| I keep forgetting about this thing. I've been so busy lately that nothing that interesting has happened.
In fact there are a million boring things that I should be doing instead of writing this.
I can't wait until 2:00 tomorrow when I will be done with school for the week, then I can concentrate on my friends who are coming back into town, studying for my qualifying exam, and helping my friend Britt make handbags out of the left over sand bags to sell to raise money for habitat for humanity to help with the rebuilding from the floods.
Time for bed.

| I haven't written in this thing for a long time. I just finished up what was perhaps the busiest semester of my life, but also one of the most enjoyable as far as classes.
Starting Monday morning at 8:00 am I am leaving the hallowed halls of our teaching clinic and going over to do diagnostic audiology at the University of Iowa hospital. It's exciting and scary at the same time. I hope I'm up to the challenge.
My break was very relaxing. I did nothing for 2 weeks which was exactly what I needed to do. I had been becoming near sighted because of all of the studying and staring at computer screens that I had to do last semester. So far it seems to have healed itself, but we'll see how long that lasts.

| So there is yet another thunderstorm here tonight and they always keep me from sleeping. It's not because I'm paranoid about severe weather, it's just that I'm a light sleeper. But it may be a little paranoia as well, since my dad isn't somewhat nearby anymore. When I was younger he would always stay up and watch the weather when there was a storm, well he probably still does that now. Having your house demolished by a tornado when you're 28 years old would probably leave a lasting impression. Even when I was in Norman, if there was a bad storm he would call. I don't know why I'm writing this, maybe I'm just homesick even though I was just home. I think I'm worried about something, but I don't know what it is. Maybe it's just not one thing. Maybe I just need some sleep. | | |
| So I should be studying for my clinic qualifying exam, but I am just not motivated. I even got out of class early tonight because of a tornado warning (we've been having them the past couple of days). Tomorrow is my last day of clinic this semester, it's a little sad, but also relieving since I won't have to write any more reports! I can't believe how quickly this summer has gone by. I'm going back to Tulsa on the 28th, perhaps with a short stop in Overland Park to see Erin or Nat or both or neither depending on their availability. I'll be back in Iowa City by August 5th because my parents are going on an Alaskan cruise for their 30th wedding anniversary and will not be home. I don't want to stay home alone, and I can't really take more than a week off of work, so I guess it is for the best. I'm going to be losing my roommate in a little over a week, which is sad, but Ben will move in which will be interesting. The only boys I've lived with are my dad and Nick. It will be a new experience, but that is what grad school is all about isn't it? Okay, I've wasted enough time | | |
| It has been a while since I have written anything on here. Partly because I have been so busy and partly because I have been busy with things that probably wouldn't interest anyone else. Clinic has been great this summer. I see the same three kids every week and then I have had wonderful people for hearing evaluations. The older population is so interesting to talk to. Most of them have other difficulties besides their hearing losses, but my clients have still been very cheery. A run down of my summer so far: lots of visiting of relatives in and around Iowa. Canoeing/camping with the other AuDies in my year was so much fun. I'm voting that we make it an annual thing. The weekend after that I went to Nashville to see my Tony. Iowa City's Jazzfest weekend was gorgeous and we spent most of it outside. This weekend I went to see my aunts and uncles on my mom's side and Tony is coming on Friday! I thought that things would slow down in the summer, but I'm either at work or in the clinic all day, and then on Mondays and Tuesdays I have night class from 6 to 8:45. Tuesdays nights are always dinner out, and Sundays are softball (I'm getting better). I should really get to bed, tomorrow Lisa and I are going grocery shopping at 7:30 or 8:00, whenever I feel like getting up an going. | | |
